The Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Emergency Department, which serves more than 25,000 patients a year, is staffed with board-certified emergency physicians, highly qualified emergency registered nurses (RNs), a team of support staff, and a network of specialists who can be called in at a moment’s notice. BID-Milton’s Emergency Department is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care quickly and conveniently. Our team of emergency physicians and nurses are highly trained in various specialties to handle a broad range of adult and pediatric emergency care.
Our ER doctors are experts in treating critically ill patients and managing trauma. They are supported by emergency nurses dedicated to delivering high quality care. All Emergency Department nurses have earned and maintain specialized credentials that enable them to care for all types of emergency patients. These include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), trauma nurse core course, and advanced training in the care of pediatric patients and their emergencies. BID-Milton's emergency department also employs physician assistants (PAs) to expedite the treatment of minor injuries and illnesses. Physician assistants are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As part of their comprehensive responsibilities, PAs conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventive health care, assist in surgery, and write prescriptions.
Fast Track Service - (minor injuries and less emergent problems)
Our Emergency Department operates a Fast Track service staffed with a physician assistant designed to facilitate and expedite the care of patients with non-emergent complaints. Patients are assessed and triaged by trained ED nurses and directed to the Fast Track based on the presenting complaint. Care in the Fast Track is provided on a first come, first serve basis and is focused on decreasing the overall wait times during peak hours.
