Electrophysiology (or “EP”) studies the electric activity of the heart. This service, offered at BID Milton through our Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center affiliation, provides outpatient EP consults for a wide array of cardiac conditions, including:
- atrial arrhythmias
- atrial fibrillation
- atrial flutter
- atrial tachycardia
- cardiomyopathy
- congestive heart failure
- left ventricular dyssynchrony
- non-sustained ventricular tachycardia
- supraventricular tachycardia
- syncope
- ventricular tachycardia
- other related diseases and conditions
Peter J. Zimetbaum, MD, director of clinical electrophysiology at the Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, oversees this service. Dr. Zimetbaum is a distinguished clinician, researcher and educator in the fields of EP, atrial fibrillation, cardiac intensive care and treatment of arrhythmias. He was recently appointed Chief of Clinical Cardiology at BIDMC.
