Through its Center for Specialty Care and affiliated general surgeons’ offices, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton) provides high-quality and compassionate colon and rectal surgical care, including minimally invasive surgery, in a convenient community hospital setting.
This team of surgeons includes experienced and respected general surgeons who perform colon and rectal procedures along with Thomas Cataldo, MD, a fellowship-trained colon and rectal subspecialist surgeon from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center who sees patients in the Center for Specialty Care and performs surgery at BID-Milton.
Common colon or rectal conditions treated surgically at the hospital include:
- Bowel obstructions
- Colon polyps
- Colorectal cancers
The colon and rectal surgery program is noted for its collaborative, team approach to care. Surgeons work closely with colleagues from anesthesiology, peri-operative surgery and pathology as well as gastroenterology and other medical specialties as needed.
A well-established surgical physician assistant program, featuring master’s degree-prepared PAs, greatly enhances quality of care and patient satisfaction by assisting with care post-operatively in the hospital.
