BID-Milton Rated in Top 5% of Hospitals Nationwide in Patient Safety by Leapfrog Group

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton) was recently awarded an eighth consecutive “A” grade in the Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2019 Hospital Safety Score report. Only 5% of hospitals nationally have earned an “A” grade for eight consecutive Safety Score reports according to Leapfrog.

A national patient safety organization, Leapfrog provides letter grades to more than 2,500 hospitals nationwide on a bi-annual schedule based on how well hospitals protect patients from preventable medical errors, injuries and infections.

According to Leapfrog, an “A” grade is one of the most significant honors a hospital can achieve and one of the most important indicators of patient safety. Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed and fully transparent.
