Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton awarded an ‘A’ for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group in 2021

Milton, Mass. – Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton (BID Milton) has earned an “A” grade for its continued commitment to patient safety in the Spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The ratings signify how well hospitals protect patients from preventable harm, including medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital.

“We are exceptionally proud of this achievement,” said Richard Fernandez, President of BID Milton. ”This national recognition is a direct result of our collective effort to provide high-quality and high-value health care in the safest environment for our patients and community.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are determined with the guidance of an expert panel using 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. Grades of A, B, C, D and F are assigned to more than 2,700 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

“An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that your community should be proud of,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The past year has been extraordinarily difficult for hospitals, but BID Milton shows us it is possible to keep a laser focus on patients and their safety, no matter what it takes.”
